InstrumentReport is a service operated by Sacramento Labs LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”), doing business under the fictitious business name InstrumentReport. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you use our services.

We collect personal and usage data in order to operate and improve our services:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address.

  • Uploaded Content: Images and descriptions of instruments or audio gear. Uploaded images may include metadata such as EXIF geolocation.

  • Device Information: IP address, browser user agent, referrer.

  • Session Information: Cookies and local storage used for session management and personalization.

  • Usage Data: Activity on our site, collected via Google Analytics and Plausible.

  • Payment Information: When billing is active, payment details are securely processed by Stripe. We do not store full card details ourselves.


2. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

  • Generate and deliver instrument valuation reports.

  • Associate reports with your account or identity (e.g., “This report was generated for [Your Name] on [Date]”).

  • Operate and improve our services.

  • Provide customer support and account-related communications.

  • Send updates, product tips, or marketing (if opted-in).

  • Analyze behavior and improve performance through analytics.

  • Reuse uploaded images in future features such as searchable directories, instrument galleries, and reference databases available to other users through a paid subscription.

By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and display your uploaded media in our products and marketing materials. This includes showing uploaded instrument images as part of our product to other users, for educational or comparative purposes (e.g., to help identify similar instruments).

Important: You may only upload photos of musical instruments or audio gear. Uploading unrelated content (e.g., personal photos, images of people, or copyrighted materials unrelated to musical instruments) is not permitted and may be deleted at our discretion.


3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share data with trusted providers to support our operations:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. If your uploaded images are shown to other users as part of a paid subscription feature (such as a reference gallery), this is done solely as part of our product functionality and not as a standalone sale of your data.


4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and local storage to:

  • Maintain persistent login sessions.

  • Improve site performance and usability.

  • Analyze aggregate user behavior.

You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings, although some functionality may be limited.


5. Data Retention

We retain your information indefinitely unless you request deletion. This includes:

  • Uploaded content

  • Valuation reports

  • Account details and activity logs

  • All connections are secured via SSL/TLS.

  • Static code scanning, dependency audits, and MFA are employed for system security.


8. Children’s Privacy

InstrumentReport is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it.


9. International Users

InstrumentReport is hosted in the United States. By using the service, you consent to data processing and storage in the U.S., which may not offer the same legal protections as your country of residence.


10. Legal Compliance and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. All disputes shall be handled in the courts of Sacramento County, California.
